BIOGRAPHY

Simon was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. In 2006 he moved to London to study Percussion and Drums at Trinity College of Music.

As a freelance musician Simon has performed in a wide range of musical settings, performing with UK Jazz greats Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Jonny Mars, Art Themen, Nigel Price, Denys Baptiste and Dave O’Higgins to classical crossover stars Julian Bliss and Russell Watson. Simon has also played in numerous theatre productions, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, The King & I, Spring Awakening and The Producers.

Simon has travelled and studied percussion in Guinea, Brazil and Cuba. In 2018 Simon completed a Masters course in Ethnomusicology at the School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) London.

As well as performing professionally Simon enjoys teaching percussion and drum kit. In addition, he leads percussion ensembles and also coaches for youth orchestras. Simon teaches percussion at Bedales School, Hampshire.

A graduate from Trinity College of Music London, he studied percussion with Gary Kettel, Kevin Nutty, Mick Doran, world percussion with Dawson Miller, jazz drums with Dave Wickens, marimba with Gillian Mcdonagh and vibraphone with Roger Beaujolais
